When I decided to take the opportunity to join the company, I thought it was a risk I just needed to take because I need to earn money to be able to help my family on the everyday expenses. I didn’t expect I’ll be so much blessed to have a beautiful mentor and friend, and a bunch of people I can call one of my families.
I was in the province, enjoying my very loooong vacay when I was invited to submit an application for an “officer” position in a pharma company. Not my first invite, but I felt like I really need to start looking for a job already, so I accepted the invite and went out to Manila the next week. The interview process as not usual – no exams or whatever, no forms to fill out, no other interviews except for the HR, until they called me in for the last interview before employment. It was a panel interview with two lawyers in front of me, asking questions about my previous work and how do I do my job. To be honest, I can’t remember anything from that day already but I’m sure I was too nervous as these two are 1) lawyers, which may be judging me already at that moment; 2) they ask too many questions and I was not sure if I’m answering them all right; and 3) they look super strict and bossy I thought I was gonna quit already.
The day finally passed and after a week or so, I reached contact with the HR again and she told me the good news. I only had few days to complete my requirements and then voila! First day ko na agad agad.
I just finished my probationary period last December, and I didn’t expect it will feel like a year so already bec I became super close with the people I work with agad. One of my good friends is Atty. Monette. She’s my boss, my mentor, my confidant, my second mom, my friend, and one of my buddies on bullying Atty. Lloyd. Yes those ‘strict’ interviewers are my families now and we bully each other a lot.
I can tell I am very fortunate on having these kind of boss. From my first job ’til my current, they’re all treating me as their baby and not just their subordinate. They mentor me, they guide me, they find ways to help me develop personally and professionally, and the support me every time. They’re all my favorites and I super love them all.
Even I had just more than six months working with Atty. Monette, I learned a lot from her, not just as a legal and compliance person, but also as a person per se. I have my own mom, but it’s just different when other people are also open being your second mom if you need one. Masaya lang sa feeling na aalis ka sa bahay, kikiss ka sa mommy mo, magpapaalam ka before going to the office, and ang madadatnan mo din sa opisina ay isa pang mom na alam mong andyan lagi para sayo – no matter how busy she is, she’ll listen if you have something to say, she’ll guide you if you don’t know where you’re going, she’ll laugh at your stupid jokes, she’ll make you proud of your own work, and she’ll make you realize how everything in life is important in its own way.
Mother bear is now transefering to our Global compliance. Nakaka proud, diba?
I miss you already, Atty. Monette. Hindi ako sanay tawagin kang mother bear, at alam ko sa sarili ko na madali akong makamove on, pero hinding hindi kita makakalimutan. I really wish the best for you, more success to come, more blessings to come, and hopefully kung di ka man makauwi sooner, e makadalaw ako sa Germany. Kahit di na kita dalawin basta makapunta lang ako dyan. Char.
Hindi to mababasa ni Atty. Bec I won’t share it, wala lang gusto ko lang magpost sa blog. MVV is a wide reader. I know kapag nakita nya link nto e babasahin nya pati iba kong posts kapag nabore sya at walang ibang gagawin.
